Description
This is an early to mid-18th century house, now a cafe. It has undergone later alterations. The front is constructed of brown brick in an English garden wall bond, with a concrete interlocking tile roof. The house is three storeys high and originally two bays wide, with a rear wing. The ground floor has a red tile dado below two 20th-century plate-glass windows and a door to the left. Flush ashlar quoins define the first and second floors, with a first-floor sill band. The first-floor windows are four-pane sashes, each set within a red brick flat arch with a taller ashlar keystone. The second-floor windows are half-size, 20th-century casements with projecting ashlar sills, also set within flat arches that match those on the first floor. A well-moulded cornice sits above the main façade, accented by shaped kneelers – the one on the right is damaged – and an ashlar coping. Brick end stacks are present. The rear wing has been rendered and has altered window and door openings.
