Description
The statue of a Sailor's Moll and its pedestal, located approximately 20 meters south of The Priory, dates from the early 18th century and was restored around 1985 by Andrew Naylor. The sculptor remains unknown. The statue is made of lead and stands on an ashlar pedestal, which has an overall height of approximately 2.60 meters, featuring a lifesize figure. The rectangular pedestal has a moulded base and cornice, supporting the figure of a dancing girl with a hank of rope at her feet. The statue is not in its original position and is part of a group of early 18th century lead statues.
