Description

This sundial, dated 1742, is located approximately 5 metres south of Blubberhouses Hall. It features a gritstone shaft and a bronze gnomon. The sundial has an octagonal base and a square-section shaft that stands about one metre high. On the north-east face of the shaft, there are a series of cut inscriptions that read: "SM/1742/I/?CIF/?1812/?RAI/M". The gnomon is decorated with C and S scrolls.
