Description
This sundial, dated 1706, is located approximately 20 metres north of Braisty Woods Farmhouse. It is made of gritstone and stands about 1.2 metres tall. The sundial features a circular base and a fluted shaft with moulding at both the base and the cap. A bronze plate is inscribed with '1706 Mors Venit' and includes a sun face; the gnomon is intact. Originally, the sundial was situated in an orchard on the south side of the farmhouse. The fluting on the shaft resembles that found on the architraves of the front door and the parlour cupboards of the main range of the house.
