Description

Harewell Hall is a house dated 1662, with 19th-century alterations, located on Dacre Glasshouses Road. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and a three-bay main range with a lobby-entry plan, along with a two-bay wing that projects from the third bay and includes an attic.

The main range has a board door in the second bay, which is topped with a chamfered lintel, a hoodmould, and a recessed panel above. To the left of the door, there is a six-light recessed-chamfered mullion window under a hoodmould, and above it, a five-light window. To the right of the door, there is an inserted four-pane window and a single window above the door. The projecting wing features mullion windows similar to those in the main range, with five lights on both the ground and first floors, and three blind stepped lights in the attic. A dripmould is present over the ground-floor window, with carved labels featuring a flower motif flanking the window. The first floor has a continuous hoodmould, and the attic has a hoodmould with a carved stone plaque dated 1662.

The building is adorned with shaped kneelers that have decorative finials and gable copings on both the main range and the cross wing. There are stacks located on the left gable, above the door, and an external stack on the right side of the cross wing.

Inside, the front left features a chamfered cross beam and a large fireplace with a wooden bressumer beam and a stone arch behind the entrance. In the cross wing, a corner post and tie-beam of the truss are visible in the partition wall.
