Description

Byrill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century with additions from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone, with ashlar detailing, and has a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high, originally with four bays, and includes a lower, later wing to the left. Quoins are present. A 20th-century door is set within a 20th-century porch in the left-hand bay. The central two bays feature a four-light double-chamfered mullioned window to the left, and a similar three-light window to the right, both with a continuous hoodmould. The right-hand bay has two two-light chamfered mullioned windows. On the first floor, a three-light chamfered mullioned window is located to the left, with three flat-faced mullioned windows to its right and in the right-hand bay. A further chamfered three-light window with wooden mullions is set to the left of the right-hand bay. Shaped kneelers and stone coping are visible. End stacks are present to the left, and two are located on the ridge, all with plinths and cornices. The interior includes a large inglenook fireplace with a chamfered segmental arch, and moulded wainscotted doors and cupboards.
