Description
Old Star Cottage is a house and cottage, likely dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The building features a two-course band at the first floor level and dentilled eaves. The roof is covered with pantiles, and there are end and ridge chimneys. The gable ends have tumbled-in brickwork. The cottage has a gable end facing the road and originally comprised three bays. It originally featured sixteen-pane sashes in flush wood architraves, with a fixed-light window on the ground floor to the left. A 20th-century plank door occupies the second bay from the left, and a 20th-century six-panel door is situated in the second bay from the right. A lower, recessed wing extends to the right, constructed of rendered brick and containing a 20th-century door and casement windows. The cottage was undergoing restoration at the time of resurvey.
