Description

Anthony's Cottage Estate Office and Groom's Cottage are two cottages, possibly originally a house and cottage, dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed from reddish-brown narrow local brick and feature a first floor band of two courses, along with stepped and dentilled eaves. The building has a coursed rubble plinth, which is partly cement rendered, and a Lakeland slate roof with stone copings and kneelers. There are end and ridge chimneys, the latter being very tall and equipped with water tabling. The structure is two storeys high and has four Yorkshire sash windows on the first floor.

The left cottage includes a 19th-century canted bay with sash windows that have glazing bars, and a panelled door topped with an oblong fanlight set within an architrave. The lintel of this bay extends through the first floor band. To the right of this, there is another sash window with glazing bars and a painted lintel. Additionally, there is an entrance with a panelled door featuring a decorated radial fanlight, set in a wooden doorcase with reeded pilasters and an open dentilled pediment that also breaks through the band, likely dating from around 1800. The Estate Office, located to the right, has a large modern casement window with glazing bars and an entrance on the south gable with a 19th-century door.
