Description
Lodge Farmhouse is a house from the mid to late 18th century, built of pale brown local brick. It features a stucco band at the first floor, along with a dentil and modillion eaves cornice. The roof is covered with pantiles and has stone coping and kneelers, with chimneys at both ends and along the ridge. The building has three storeys and five bays, with stone steps leading to the central entrance. The entrance consists of a six-panel door topped by an oblong fanlight, set within a doorcase that has engaged Tuscan columns, a frieze with triglyphs and metopes adorned with paterae, and a dentilled pediment with stucco decoration. Above the entrance is a stucco oriel window with canted sashes that include glazing bars. The sash windows, mostly 19th-century replacements, are fitted in flush wood architraves with gauged red brick flat arches, stucco keys, and cills. At the rear, there is a staircase window with glazing bars, Yorkshire sashes, and dentilled eaves. Inside, the hall features moulded arches and a modillion cornice. There is a notable 18th-century staircase, likely relocated from another site, with three different turned balusters per tread, a spiral handrail, and a curtail step, along with reeded newels. The front room contains an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered beam, which also appears to have been inserted. Additionally, there is a stone mounting block located next to the house at the rear.
