Description

This milestone, located approximately 100 metres to the north-west of the church in Ainderby Steeple, dates from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular section pillar topped with a semicircular cap. The front of the milestone is inscribed with 'North Riding of Yorkshire'. The left side features the inscription 'No Allerton 3', while the right side reads 'Bedale 5, Hawes 33'.
