Description
The outbuilding of the Old Vicarage, located approximately 7 metres north of the house, is a coach house and stables built around 1854. It was designed by William Butterfield as part of the estate for Viscount Downe of Baldersby Park. The building features snecked stone with ashlar dressings, a red brick extension, and a Westmorland slate roof with a tile ridge and a stone stack with ashlar bands.
This structure is in the High Victorian style and consists of one and a half storeys with five bays. The facade includes, from the left: a 20th-century garage door; a plank door with strap hinges; a 2-light iron casement window with 6 panes under a segmental brick arch; another plank door with strap hinges in a wood surround under a segmental brick arch; a 3-light iron casement window with 9 panes under a segmental brick arch; a former privy under a lean-to roof to the right; and a narrow 6-pane casement window. Above the central door, there is a loft entrance made of vertical planks and strap hinges under a hipped dormer. The roof is half-hipped with a stack straddling the ridge. The right return features a single-storey lean-to with two wooden plank doors under segmental arches.
