Description

Settrington Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1795. It features dressed limestone on a tooled limestone plinth, with tooled limestone quoins and dressings, and has a stone flag roof. The building has a central stair-hall plan and is two rooms deep, with a service wing to the right. The front of the house is two stories high and has three windows, while the slightly recessed wing to the right is a lower two-story structure with a single window.

The central entrance door has six raised and fielded panels and is topped by a divided overlight; there is a similar door on the extension. The ground floor windows of the house have 12-pane sashes, while the first floor features unequal 9-pane sashes. The first-floor window of the extension is a two-light, 12-pane horizontal sliding sash. All windows have painted tooled sills and flat arches made of tooled voussoirs. The house has a hipped roof with overhanging eaves and end stacks, while the wing also has a hipped roof to the right.

Inside, there is an open-string staircase with turned balusters and a moulded and wreathed handrail located at the rear of the entrance hall. The service wing retains a boxed stair, and all the ground-floor windows still have their shutters made of raised and fielded panelling.
