Description
The signal box, built around 1860, is possibly designed by G. T. Andrews for the Northallerton Bedale line. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs. The building is two storeys high. The ground floor features three round arched windows on the north-east front. The south-east front includes a single doorway on the left and an external flight of wooden steps leading to another door on the first floor. To the right of the doorway, there is a two-light glazing bar sliding sash window. On the south-west front, there are two round-headed windows on the first floor, located on either side of an external stack. The north-east front has two two-light glazing bar sashes and a projecting iron balcony.
