Description

The Leech House is a late 18th-century building located in Aiskew. It is constructed of red brick and features a lead roof. The structure is almost square in plan, consisting of one storey and one bay. The entrance is a boarded door set within a triangular-headed surround that has an ashlar keystone. The other sides of the building have small window openings with stone sills and triangular heads, also featuring ashlar keystones. The building is topped with an embattled parapet. Inside, there is a small contemporary corner cast-iron fire grate. This building is a rare example of a structure designed for a doctor to house leeches for use in his medical practice.
