Description
Pickering United Reformed (Congregational) Church was built in 1867, featuring a front elevation that dates back to 1789 and was enlarged in 1814. The front is made of white brick with ashlar dressings and has a gable facing the road, complete with a cornice and an ornamental circular window. The building has rusticated stone quoins. On the first floor, there are two glazed lancet windows and one window with three lancet lights, along with a moulded string at the cills. The ground floor includes two segmental-headed windows with stone keystones and an arched doorway that has a door with four fielded panels. The rear of the church retains elements from 1789, constructed of coursed stone and red brick, featuring arched windows with Gothic glazing. There is an early 19th-century porch supported by columns, which has a door with six fielded panels. The church is part of a group that includes Nos 29 to 31, railings and gates in the courtyard, as well as Nos 33 to 47 and Nos 49 to 52.
