Numbers 86, 87, 88, and 89 and Outbuilding Attached to Number 86

Numbers 86, 87, 88, and 89, along with the outbuilding attached to Number 86, are a pair of houses that have been converted into four dwellings. They date from the late 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century, and further remodelling and modernisation in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of dressed sandstone and feature a slate roof with brick stacks.

The main façade is two stories high with four windows. There are two 20th-century doors, and the ground floor has 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows on either end of the centre. The remaining ground-floor windows are 20th-century replacements, while the first-floor windows match those below. All windows have stone sills, some of which are painted, and all openings feature flat arches. The roof is hipped, with stacks at the right end, centre, and centre left.

On the left return front, there is a two-story, three-bay design, with the centre bay extended to create a full-height semicircular bay. A 20th-century door is located in the centre bay beneath a curved door hood supported by brackets, with a 12-pane sash window above. The ground floor has 16-pane sashes with flat arches on either side, and the first floor features 12-pane horizontal sliding sashes. The centre bay is topped with a shaped parapet and a ball finial.

The outbuilding has a bow front with a central plank door set in a plain, square-headed architrave, accessed by steps. There are paired round-arched lights in square-headed surrounds on either side, featuring 8-pane windows with chamfered mullions and stone sills. The outbuilding also has a shaped parapet with a ball finial and is said to have been used as the local gaol at one time.
