Description
This is an early 19th century house, originally known as Bede House, now part of St. Aidan’s Church of England High School. It features a five-window frontage, with a projecting three-window wing to the north-east. The exterior is constructed of grit stone ashlar, with a cornice and parapet, and has a slate roof. The windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars and shutters. A plain Tuscan prostyle portico provides access to a semi-elliptical arched doorway, which has sidelights, a panelled door, and a radial fanlight. Later additions to the rear include a former stable clock tower of three stages, with finials over corner pilasters.
