Description

These are 19th-century villas, located at 11, 13A and 13B Queen Parade. They are two storeys high. Number 11 has three windows, with a recessed, single-window entrance bay; numbers 13A and 13B each have three windows. The buildings have hipped roofs covered in slate, with bracketed eaves. They are constructed of grit stone ashlar, featuring rusticated quoins. The windows are recessed sash windows, with the ground floor windows being splayed bay windows. Number 11 has a wooden entrance portico. The doorway of number 13 is flanked by pilasters that support an entablature, above which is a fanlight. The doorway has a panelled door. Both villas feature elaborate cast iron verandahs with glazed roofs along the front. These buildings are included on the list primarily for the significance of these verandahs. Numbers 11, 13A and 13B form a visually coherent group.
