Description
Harrogate Baptist Church, built around 1883, is designed in the Gothic style. It features a four-bay nave, transepts, a tower with a spire located at the southwest corner, and a church room at the north end. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has coped gables, along with a lead octagonal fleche. The building is constructed from rusticated sandstone ashlar and includes a pierced quatrefoil parapet and buttresses. Notable architectural details include arched windows with reticulated tracery and hood moulds, two-light nave windows, and a four-light rose window at the south end. The gabled center has an arched doorway with receding orders, a hood mould, and naturalistic foliage. The three-stage tower features an octagonal belfry and spire. The church is included in the listing for its townscape value, particularly the spire.
