Description
This is a mid-19th century villa, situated at 29 and 29A York Place. It is a two-storey building with a double-fronted facade of three windows. The roof is slated and hipped, with projecting eaves. The exterior is constructed of grit stone ashlar and features architraved sash windows. Later, splayed bay windows were added to the ground floor, incorporating pilaster-mullions supporting an entablature and glazing bars. A good Ionic prostyle portico fronts the building, leading to a doorway with a fanlight and panelled door. Later additions are present at the rear. Nos 29 to 35 (consec), together with No 29A, form a group.
