Description

This is an early 19th-century pair of cottages altered in the late 19th century. The buildings are two storeys high with basements, and each has two windows, with a blind window on the first floor between the two houses. The roof is covered with re-laid stone slates and has wide eaves with gutters supported by wrought iron brackets; a stack is constructed from yellow Scarborough brick. The exterior is constructed of grit stone rubble with ashlar dressings. The windows are recessed sash windows, and there are late 19th-century splayed window bays rising through the ground and first floors, with a cast iron balcony between them on the first floor. Cast iron porches front recessed doorways, which have panelled reveals, fanlights, and half-glazed doors, accessed by steps with wrought iron railings. Wrought iron railings are also present to the front areas. Numbers 8 to 13 and numbers 15 to 20 form a group.
