Description
The Girls' High School in Richmond was built between 1938 and 1939 by D Clarke-Hall. The school features an extended layout made of reinforced concrete, with rubble walling and rendered panels, and has a flat roof. The entrance hall is single-storeyed and includes a glazed section with a shaped canopy supported by a thin column. To the west is the Assembly Hall, which has a kitchen behind it and a free-standing concrete flue. The eastern side contains a two-storeyed block with a concrete staircase and a library on the upper floor. A spine corridor runs north, with spurs leading to paired classrooms that extend east and are connected by pergolas. There are gymnasium blocks located to the west, and there are additions at the rear on the roof of the entrance hall.
