Description

The Sun Dial Inn is an inn dating from around 1830, although it has origins from the 17th century. It features painted watershot masonry and a slate roof, and is two storeys high with a double front. The central entrance has a plain surround set on chamfered blocks, with a door that was added around 1980. There are two windows on each storey, also with plain surrounds, and these are 1980 sashes without glazing bars. Prominently displayed in the center of the upper floor is a painted sundial, likely from the mid-18th century, inscribed with the names John and Alice Cumberland, and featuring an iron gnomon. The building has gable end ridge stacks, and at the rear, there are remains of a late 17th century two-light chamfered mullioned window.
