Description
The surround to the reservoir, located on a hilltop approximately 400 metres west of Baldersby Park House, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of squared, coursed sandstone and has a circular shape with an internal diameter of approximately 10 metres. The structure features a wide retaining bank that is faced with stone on both the inner and outer sides, standing about 1.5 metres high. The bowl-shaped surround is lined with stone slabs, which are now heavily overgrown. Additionally, there is a 20th-century concrete tank attached to the south side. Water is pumped from a borehole near the river, and this system is still in use.
