Description
This is a water mill, dating from the mid-18th century with additions in the early 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar detailing and has a pantile roof. The main block is four storeys high and three bays wide, with a three-storey gabled bay to the right and a lower two-storey bay projecting forward. There's a three-storey outshut bay added in the early 20th century to the left. The left-hand bay of the main block features double board doors set within an elliptical arch, while a taller, similar single door is in the right-hand bay. Further to the right, two bays have board doors, each set below an elliptical arch. The windows throughout are 9-pane casements with elliptical arched heads. On the ground floor, there are two windows between the doors of the main block, and one beyond to the right, mirroring the arrangement on the left. The first floor has three windows to the main block, and one to the left bay. The second floor has two windows to the main block, one to the left bay, and a smaller one to the gabled bay to the right. The third floor of the main block has a central opening with a board door. The first floor of the gabled bay to the right has a larger 20th-century door opening. The left bay has a door opening with another opening above it. An eaves band and shaped kneelers are visible, along with stone coping. The river front is similar, but with a lower storey constructed of ashlar, featuring a race opening within a large segmental arch.
