Milestone and mile-post. Late C18 - early C19 and c1890. Sandstone, cast iron. To left, earlier milestone of triangular plan with damaged top; on the left, a hand pointing to the right. To right, later cast-iron mile-post of triangular plan with, on left side, hand pointing right and "RICHMOND 7 MILES"; on right side, hand pointing left and "LUCY CROSS 1 MILE"; on the top "RICHMOND HD" (Highways Department), indicating a date after the Highways Act of 1888. The lower portions of both stones are embedded in the grass verge.
