Description

Pinfold is an animal pound that has been converted into a village amenity, primarily serving as a playground for young children. It likely dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and is constructed from rubble and dressed stone. The structure has an irregular quadrangle shape and features rubble walls that are approximately 2 meters high on the inside, with dressed stone quoins at the external corners and rounded coping. In the north corner, there is an opening with part rebated reveals for an outward-opening door, which is currently fitted with a plywood door. This pound is notable as one of the few remaining examples in Richmondshire.
