Description

The Packhorse Bridge over Aldbrough Beck is a bridge that possibly dates from the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of rubble and features three uneven segmental pointed arches, with dividing piers of varying sizes set on concrete bases. The parapets have triangular coping, and the downstream side ends in a monolithic, roughly-shaped stone to the south. The bridge has a very narrow pathway that is surfaced with 20th-century concrete. It is scheduled as an ancient monument.
