Description

Rosemary Cottage is a lodge dating from the early to mid-19th century, originally marked on the Ordnance Survey map as Brough Lodge. It is located on the west side of Brough to Tunstall Road in Tunstall, North Yorkshire. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Westmorland slate roof. It has a square plan, is single storey, and consists of three bays. The cottage has a plinth and chamfered rusticated quoins. The central entrance is a studded board door set within an architrave that has a hood-mould above it. There are paired 18-pane sash windows in chamfered surrounds, also with hood-moulds. The eaves oversail, and the roof is hipped with a corniced stack at its apex. This lodge was associated with a gate that was formerly located on the road outside.
