Description
Peaton Carr Farmhouse dates to circa 1700 for the left-hand section, with an early 19th-century addition to the right. The original part is constructed of narrow red brick, now rendered, and features stepped eaves courses. It has a swept pantiled roof with brick copings, kneelers, and chimneys. The left-hand section is two storeys high with two windows, exhibiting wide proportions. Modern casements, bow windows, and a small, older fixed window are present. The right-hand section is built of red brick with a pantiled roof. Also two storeys high, it has two wide bays and incorporates a granary and cartshed. The right part of the façade has 19th-century and modern casements, along with one Yorkshire sash window. A modern door has been inserted. The granary section retains original openings, except for a modern garage door, and has an external staircase located at the rear. A long, rear lean-to extends from the main farmhouse. A long, attached byre, built between 1893 and 1913, is situated to the left and uses similar materials. This byre has segmental heads over small lights and features Dutch doors. Inside, the original staircase includes splat balusters, and some original exposed beams and joists remain visible.
