Description
Tanton Farmhouse is an 18th-century building constructed of local red brick in English garden wall bond. It features pantiled roofs with stone copings and kneelers, and has end chimneys, two of which have been rebuilt. The farmhouse is L-shaped and consists of two storeys, with a front range that has three bays and a rear wing that has two bays. There is a lower two-storey left extension that resembles a barn. The windows have gauged flat brick arches with keystones and stone sills, mostly fitted with replaced sashes that include glazing bars, although one original sash remains in the rear wing alongside modern casements. The central door is set within a modern glazed porch. The barn section includes two Yorkshire sashes and features an external stone stair at the back, as well as pigeon holes in the gable.
