Description
Nos 58 and 59 on Market Place is a single building from the mid-18th century, featuring painted roughcast and rising three storeys. No 58 has an old slate roof, while No 59 is topped with modern asbestos pantiles. The structure includes two brick stacks and one modern stone stack. Notable architectural details include rusticated quoins, a moulded cornice with small modillions, and a parapet.
The building has eight windows in plain stone frames, each with rusticated keystones, while No 59 has six windows. The first floor of No 58 showcases a three-light late 19th-century window with plain pilasters and an entablature. The shop front also features similar pilasters, a modern fascia, and two small 19th-century shop windows with thin carved pilasters flanking the central doorway. The original door consists of six panels, topped by a three-paned fanlight, and is set within an early 19th-century stone case adorned with engaged columns, a triglyph frieze, and a moulded pediment. To the left, there is a passage door leading to No 58, which has a rusticated keystone and shaped jambs.
Nos 56 to 61 form a group with this building.
