Stable Block Approximately One Hundred Metres to North of Sedbury Hall

The stable block, located approximately 100 metres north of Sedbury Hall, is a structure that dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is likely designed by John Foss of Richmond for the D'Arcy Hutton family. The building is constructed from coursed dressed sandstone and features stone slate roofs, arranged in a U-shaped plan with one and two storeys, and a layout of 1:3:3:3:1 bays, where the side bays project forward.

The stable block has a plinth and quoins, with the central range serving as the coach-house, which is deeper in plan and two storeys high. It includes a three-bay rounded arcade with ashlar voussoirs, abaci, piers, and responds, now fitted with garage doors. In front, there is an added glass hipped-roof canopy supported by cast-iron columns. The first floor features 6-pane sash windows in dressed surrounds, and there is an eaves band beneath a hipped roof.

To the left, there are round-arched openings with a continuous impost band; one contains a window with glazing bars that is radial at the top, while the others have 6-panel doors below fanlights. The right side mirrors this design but has a central leaved door below a fanlight flanked by two matching windows. The left wing displays an armorial achievement carved in stone, which was brought from Ellemore Hall in County Durham in 1947, positioned in front of a part-blocked window set within a recessed round arch. This wing also has a hipped roof.

The right wing features leaved doors below a fanlight with an ashlar surround set within a recessed round arch with an impost band, also topped with a hipped roof. The right return of the left wing has four bays of recessed round-arched panels, including a door, window, door, and window, along with a mounting block to the left, above which is a cartouche with a coat of arms. The left return of the right wing has been altered to include two garage doors and the remaining sections are now windows.

At the rear of the coach-house, there is a tall round-arched carriageway, possibly intended for a farm wagon. The rear of the right centre range features a board door with cast-iron ventilation grills set within a 17th-century elaborately-moulded ashlar surround. Inside the right wing, there are round-arched recesses for mangers and wooden furniture with acorn finials for one stall.
