SE 37 NE BALDERSBY WIDE HOWE LANE (north side, off) Baldersby St James 3/27 Outhouse to Old Vicarage approximately 5 metres to north of house

Wash-house and fuel store with pigsty and privy behind, now outhouse. c1854. By William Butterfield as part of the estate for Viscount Downe of Baldersby Park. Coursed stone with ashlar dressings, brick to rear. Westmorland slate roof, tile ridge. 1 storey with lean-to addition to rear. 4 plank doors in plain frames. C20 window between 2 doors to left. Square window in wood frame, 2 lights, each of 9 panes, between 2 right-hand doors. Chimney stack to rear of left end. Left. return: 3 ventilation slits in gable, low doorway into lean-to has wooden frame with pointed arch over.
