Description
This milestone, located approximately 100 metres north of Common Lane in Burn, North Yorkshire, dates from the 19th century. It is made of ashlar stone and stands about 0.7 metres high with a pointed head. The front of the milestone is inscribed with the distances to various locations: Doncaster 17 ½ miles, Askern 10 ½ miles, Selby 2 ½ miles, and York 17 miles.
