Description

The Statue of Girl with Bird's Nest and its pedestal is located approximately 30 metres east of The Priory in Nun Monkton. This statue dates from the early 18th century and was restored around 1985, with the restoration carried out by Andrew Naylor. The statue is made of lead and stands on an ashlar pedestal. The overall height is approximately 2.70 metres, featuring a lifesize figure of a girl in a bodiced dress holding a bird's nest. The rectangular pedestal has a moulded base and cornice, and the statue is not in its original position. It is part of a group of early 18th century lead statues.
