Description
Low Paley Green is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with extensions made around 1730 and further alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared rubble with painted stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has a double depth and a central staircase plan.
The garden front is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The central entrance has a roll moulding around it and a keyed lintel, featuring a six-panel door with the upper two panels glazed. To the right, there is a 20th-century entrance. On the ground floor, to the right of the centre, there is a two-light flat-faced mullioned window with a projecting sill. The left-hand ground floor and three upper floor windows have projecting sills and are sashes without glazing bars. The right-hand gable end has a stack, as does the left of the centre ridge.
Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with an open string, turned balusters, and a ramped wreathed handrail. A stone in the garden, believed to have come from the house, is inscribed with "WC 1723."
