Description

Rome Farmhouse is a farmhouse, dating to 1779, but with earlier origins in the 17th century, and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered stone with painted stone dressings, and has a slate roof. The house is arranged around a central staircase. It is two storeys high and has a double-fronted appearance. The central entrance has a plain surround and a 20th-century door. There are two two-light windows on each floor, with chamfered mullions and sash windows containing glazing bars. A slate dripmould runs along the ground floor. A datestone inscribed 'HM' (Henry Maudsley) is located centrally on the upper floor. The rear of the building includes a former 17th-century two-light window with chamfered mullions, though the mullion is now missing.
