Description

Far Rome Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to 1690, with alterations from the 18th century and 20th century. It is constructed of slobered square rubble with stone dressings, and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and five bays wide. A rubble plinth runs along the base. The entrance, on the right-hand side of the centre, features a chamfered surround and a decorated lintel dated and inscribed "A G W"; it has a six-panel door. Four ground floor windows are present under a continuous hoodmould which rises over the lintel. These windows include a double-chamfered cavetto mullioned window, a chamfered fire window with a round head and decorated lintel, and two two-light double-chamfered cavetto mullioned windows. The upper floor has four two-light chamfered mullioned windows, and a small round-headed single light window located above the fire window. Gable end ridge stacks and a stack to the left of the centre are present.

At the rear, an 18th-century outshut houses the staircase. The interior includes a segmental arched inglenook fireplace.
