Description
Mount Wellington Cottage and Old Corn Mill, formerly known as Mount Wellington Farmhouse, is a building that dates back to the 1830s, with later alterations from the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of dressed stone and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays.
The two left-hand bays are the oldest part of the structure, featuring two ground-floor windows with plain surrounds and round heads that have imitation keystones. These windows include four-panel fixed lights with margin glazing. The building has quoins, with those on the right bonded into a later extension that includes two additional bays. The right-hand bay features a projecting porch from the late 19th or early 20th century, with a door added around 1980. To the left, there is a ground-floor window with a plain surround and sashes that have glazing bars, along with two similar windows on the upper floor.
The facade is adorned with shaped eaves modillions across its entire length. The left-hand gable end has a ridge stack, and there is a central ridge stack at the former right-hand gable. Additionally, there is a ball finial on the right-hand gable.
