Description

The forecourt gate and railings to Mitre House, located on the east side of Market Square in Kirkby Stephen, date from the first half of the 19th century. These cast-iron railings enclose the front garden of Mitre House and are highly decorative, featuring ornate balusters and scrolled infill. The design includes foliate decoration on the finials, standards, and scrolls, adding to the overall elegance of the structure.
