Description
Blawith Lodge is a house that was originally built as a lodge for Blawith, now known as the Netherwood Hotel, in 1890. The building is constructed from snecked limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features rock-faced stone around the window openings, topped with a slate roof. The roof has a complex design, including a two-storey gabled wing on the left and a single-storey section with an attic dormer on the right. The right side has a hipped roof at the front, with a smaller attic dormer set into the valley between the two roofs.
A single-storey stone porch with an embattled parapet is located at the angle of the left-hand wing, while a slated timber verandah extends across the front of the house to the right, supported by turned tapering timber columns, each topped with two cornice mouldings. Below the verandah, there is a window. The windows throughout the building are timber casements, and the bargeboards are plain. A plaque inscribed with 'CDW 1890' is positioned below the apex of the left-hand wing. The building also features chimneys on the right-hand wall of the wing and towards the rear on the right.
