Description

Slack House is a house, probably built in the mid-19th century, with later additions from the 19th century. The exterior is pebbledashed with dressings of water-worn limestone and features a slate roof. The house has two storeys and the original part consists of a three-window range. The first-floor windows are glazing bar sashes with plain reveals, projecting sills, and limestone lintels. On the ground floor, there is a gabled porch on the right side and paired sash windows without glazing bars on the left. The open timber porch has carved bargeboards and covers glazed double doors with margin panes.

To the east, there is a taller one-bay addition that features windows with water-worn rusticated limestone surrounds, a first-floor sill band, and pronounced gables with decorative bargeboarding. This addition has a casement window on the ground floor and a glazing bar sash on the first floor. The right-hand return wall of this addition is similarly styled but includes a timber canted bay window on the ground floor. There are chimneys located to the left and right of the original house as well as on the rear wall of the addition.
