Description
Gate Lodge Caythorpe Court is a lodge cottage built around 1900, designed by Sir R. Blomfield. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, featuring stone coped gables adorned with ball ornaments at both the top and bottom. The building has two gable stacks and a stone slate roof, following a T-plan layout.
The western front, which faces the entry, consists of three bays, with the right-hand pair set in an advanced gable end. There are off-centre doorways to the left, featuring a segmental-headed glazed door that has a drip mould with label stops. To the right, there are two 2-light mullioned windows with moulded stone surrounds and cornices, and above them is a similar 4-light window, where the middle pair of lights is blank. In front of the lodge, there is a flight of steps flanked by walls topped with coped stone.
