Description
Washdyke Farm, formerly known as Rose Cottage, is a farmhouse built in 1837. It features distinctive chequered brickwork with dark headers and a pantile roof with gable stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-bay front with an eaves cornice. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a triple overlight, set within a moulded wooden doorcase topped with a flat hood. This door is flanked by single glazing bar sash windows, and the three first-floor windows are similar in style. All windows are adorned with flat gauged brick lintels. On either side of the facade, there are shaped side walls with stone copings, which ramp over single openings that contain slatted lights. The date of 1837 is prominently displayed in dark headers on the north gable wall.
