Description
This underpass, located approximately 120 meters north-west of Whitegate Cottages, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of limestone, with the south-west side featuring waterworn limestone that forms an arch and abutments, creating a grotto effect. The north-east side has been filled in. The underpass originally provided access from the gardens of Holker Hall to the kitchen gardens and other areas.
