SOCKBRIDGE AND TIRRIL, SOCKBRIDGE, Outbuilding approx. 50m to south of Sockbridge Hall

Outbuilding, formerly stable. 1687 (documentary evidence). Stone rubble with ashlar dressings, slate roof. 2-storeys, L-plan. East elevation of 5 bays. 2-light flat-faced-mullioned windows, most blocked, some retain mullions. Central entrance has chamfered reveals. South elevation has blocked ventilation slots to western end; 1st-floor entrance to eastern end. Western elevation has re-entrant lean-to shed; gable end has inserted ground floor and 1st floor entrances. See CWASS LXXXII (NS).
