Description
This is an outbuilding, formerly a stable, located approximately 50 meters south of Sockbridge Hall. It dates back to 1687, as confirmed by documentary evidence. The structure is built of stone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. It is two stories high and has an L-shaped plan. The east elevation features five bays with two-light flat-faced-mullioned windows, most of which are blocked, although some still retain their mullions. The central entrance has chamfered reveals. The south elevation includes blocked ventilation slots at the western end and a first-floor entrance at the eastern end. The western elevation has a re-entrant lean-to shed, and the gable end has inserted entrances on both the ground floor and first floor.
