Description

The base of a cross, located in the centre of the village green in Tirril, is likely from the 17th century and is made of sandstone. It features a triangular, two-stepped plinth with a round socket hole. This site may be a new location for the Margate Cross, which was originally situated further west, associated with a market that was granted in the 13th century.
