Description

Tirril Hall is a house, likely dating from the late 17th century with subsequent additions. It is constructed of roughcast stone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The west elevation is two storeys high and features six irregular bays. The first three bays on the ground floor are characterised by two-light, single-chamfered-mullioned windows with label moulds. The fifth bay has a three-light recessed flat-mullioned window, and the sixth bay has a two-light window with a flat-faced mullion in chamfered reveals. The first floor windows are similar in style, but the mullions are missing from the first three bays, which now have casements. A casement window is present in the fourth bay. The entrance is located in the fourth bay. A gable-end stack is visible. The peak of a higher rear wing projects above the fourth bay. The east elevation incorporates a large bay under a hipped roof with a lean-to outshut to its right return. This section has sash windows with glazing bars, and a round-headed stair window. One first-floor window within the end bay is topped with a simple pediment. The first bay features an outshut under a catslide roof, and a lateral stack is present on the wing. The interior has not been inspected.
