Description
The memorial cross located in the churchyard to the west of the church porch is a late 19th-century Celtic cross. It is made from monolithic slate and stands approximately 10 feet high, set upon a sandstone block. This cross was erected by the people of Kendal in memory of John Cooper, who served as the Vicar of Kendal for 38 years and passed away in 1896. The bottom of the east face is signed by J.W. Bromley from Keswick. The cross features carved interlace and scrollwork decoration on all sides, with an inscription in low relief on the west face. It is part of the group of memorials within the churchyard.
